In his Rehab Exercise and Sports Therapy (REST) Podcast, University Orthopedics Physical Therapist Dan Bien discusses the role of therapy related to various orthopedic injuries and surgeries.

In Episode 1, Dr. Brett Owens discusses ACL injuries and the latest trends and options in surgical repair for the common knee injury.

About Dr. Owens

Brett D. Owens, MD is a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic sports medicine surgeon, specializing in arthroscopic repair of sports-related injuries as well as complex knee and shoulder reconstructions. 

Dr. Owens serves as Director of the Rhode Island Cartilage Repair Center, the Director of Sports Medicine at Miriam Hospital, and Director of Sports Medicine Research at Brown. He is currently Team Physician for Brown University and the Providence Bruins. He is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Brown University, Alpert School of Medicine. He also serves as Associate Editor for the American Journal of Sports Medicine.

About Dan Bien

Dan Bien is a physical therapist at our Kettle Point Campus in East Providence. Dan has worked at University Orthopedics since 2006 and serves as the Coordinator of Clinical Education for the physical therapy department.

Dan is currently recognized as an Orthopedic Certified Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and a Credentialed Clinical Instructor by the American Physical Therapy Association.
